Rec Category: Drama
Pairing: Jack/Daniel
Category: Slash, Angst, Drama, Hurt/Comfort, First Time (sort of)
Warning: Slash, Explicit Sex, Profanity, a little bit of MeanJack
Author on LJ: I don't know.

Why This Must Be Read: The author's summary: "I have always wanted to write a Daniel-falls-into-a-freezing-river-and-Jack-has-to-stop-him-getting-hypothermia story and this is it. (Well the show won't provide me with one so what choice did they leave me?). And anyway it's fun making Jack jealous."
This was one of the first Jack/Daniel stories that I ever read, and it's still one of my favorites. This story has a little bit of adventure, plenty of drama, and some great angst from Jack. Parts of this story are so humorous because ELG gets the Jack/Daniel conversation exactly as I imagine they would have it. More than once, they get interrupted just as things get a bit interesting, but all is well in the end.

Date: 2005-10-02 10:14 pm (UTC)I can easily imagine *Jack* going through all those thoughts, emotions, revelation etc. But *O'Neill*? It was like some stranger took a place that doesn't belong to him. I have no idea where this came from, or why it bothered me so much, but constant using of a surname made him completely different person and this just didn't fit.

Date: 2005-10-02 11:02 pm (UTC)In this story, the beginning of it bothered me a bit...but I think that's just my "thing." hehe I had to keep reminding myself of how I would see Daniel saying those lines and remember that this was Jack's impression of Daniel, not Daniel himself, if that makes sense. I had to kind of put myself in the story and try to see things from this author's perspective rather than my own.
Still, this was a fun story for me to read and I still enjoy it now. As I said in the rec, it's one of the first slash stories that I ever read. When I was first watching the show, too, I was really big on that "mean Jack is sooo mean to Daniel" kind of thing in season 4 and 5. I don't see it that way now, but my first time through the series, I just couldn't understand why everyone was so mean to Daniel all the time--especially Jack! hehe
Love your icon! :-)

Date: 2005-10-03 01:32 pm (UTC)Yeah - seasons 4 & 5 were kinda hard but I got my peace with them. And not without help of some great stories. But still - it was nothing, comparing to what I saw in 7 & 8 (especially in last three eps of 8). I'm still hoping there is a good fic that explain all this mess.
