Why This Must Be Read: Most writers approach time loops from the POV of the person who knows it's a time loop. This one doesn't and it's delightful. Rodney McKay knows to be wary when John Sheppard smiles like that, too bright and a little dangerous, and that's what gets the ball rolling on a rollicking time loop that's too ordinary and horribly mundane and still full of surprises. It's a fun, fast read that will leave you giggling.
"Good morning, Rodney," Sheppard said. "Mind if I stick with you today?"
Rodney eyed him suspiciously. His hair was flat, his eyes were shadowed and wild, and he was smiling like his face was about to break. "Yes," he said. "Something's wrong with you, and I don't want to catch it."
"Oh, if only you would," Sheppard said, and Rodney took a step back. Sheppard rolled his eyes. "Relax, I'm not contagious. It's just that something weird is going on, and since you're the normal epicenter of weird--"
"I am not," Rodney said. "You're the one who makes things weird. I just happen to be around a lot when you do."
Sheppard smiled. "Then I should follow you around so you can keep an eye on me."
"Hmph." Rodney eyed him. The Major had that look of steely determination going. It could easily be mistaken for his look of flat boredom, but the smile was slightly more dangerous. Rodney weighed the pros and cons of going against that look--pros: fun, cons: he'd lose--and said, "Fine, but it's idiots day, and you're not allowed to interrupt."
