Why This Must Be Read: This is a lovely character study of Radek adjusting to life on Atlantis and deciding that as he now lives on a floating city he needs to learn to swim. Teaching himself doesn't go so well, and Teyla helps. There's warmth and closeness between them, but not a full-blown pairing. It's a well-written portrayal of them both, told from Radek's POV.
Radek first saw Teyla Emmagan at the "Hey, we're not dead!" party shortly after their arrival on Atlantis. At the time, he was a little bit distracted ... well, okay, a lot distracted. In a state of shock might be a better way to put it. After all, he was standing in a different galaxy, surrounded by a mind-boggling array of technological wonders, and he'd just found out that an untold number of life-sucking aliens were out to kill him. Also, he'd gotten a small taste of what having Rodney McKay for a boss was going to be like. It was simultaneously the best and worst day of his entire life.
