Why This Must Be Read: What is supposed to be a standard check-in turns into a mission gone wrong, with the team cut off from the gate and Rodney paralyzed by a dart. Ronon and Teyla make it through the gate, leaving John to care for Rodney. I really liked the interactions between the team and the little moments between John and Rodney that lead up to the big moment between them. The Rodney whump is so good, and I love the way they worry about each other. The writing is well done, and the characterizations feel right. This 14k fic is a fun, satisfying read.
