Why This Must Be Read: This is a slightly awkward and nicely real brief encounter quite some time before canon. Unlike some of those, this one does cover them meeting up again in Antarctica. I like the relative lack of angst, and Rodney's enthusiasm (for many reasons) when he meets John again.

"I have a perfectly good bed," he says.

"And we're not in it because...?"

"Because you're molesting me against the wall here," Rodney says, and he can see the outline of John's face in the dim light, the way his eyes crinkle up at the corners. "Come on."
