Why This Must Be Read: I'll be honest and say that 2001 has never been one of my favourite episodes. Having said that, Sally Reeve's take on the ending of the episode (where instead of the just the note going back to the past SGC, Sam Carter goes with it) is an excellent "what if", albeit a bit shippy (but shippy is why I'm here!). Sam horrible realisation about why she still "exists" is an interesting take on the episode.
Sam smiled to herself - literally. "You know I can't answer that." But her smile was brief. She was still here, which meant her timeline still existed. Why? This should have worked! Why the hell was she still here? Unless...? Oh no. She looked around at the frowning, suspicious faces and understood. "You don't believe me," she realized, suddenly starting to feel sick. Had they all died for nothing?
