Why This Must Be Read: This is a first time story between Jack and Daniel, written from Jack's point of view. First published in 2004, it was one of the first stories I read in this fandom and it was hugely influential on my own writing and my own view of the characters. If you are a fan of NC-17 rated M/M slash, this story is extremely hot. But it's also a lovely and leisurely character study, full of humor, and shows us the way Jack might just accidentally talk himself over a cliff with Daniel. Who luckily was just as ready to fall.
"First-time" is a favorite trope or cliche of mine, and this story has everything I wanted. Chelle has a direct, stripped down style that seems very suited to Jack's point of view, and her erotic writing is, to me, very good. She is also one of the few writers who writes a believable and nuanced dumb!Jack (to oversimplify one way of looking at Jack's character), by contrast with writers like Paian and JDJunkie and Marie Blackpool who focused more on smart!Jack. All chelle's work in this fandom is wonderful and I am glad she spent some time with Jack and Daniel before haring off after Rodney/John, as so many Gateverse fans did. Reccing again in December was a great excuse to reread this 4,800 word gem.

You see, I didn't really watch SG-1 -- just a couple of seasons years ago and several random episodes this week. One of them is 'Window Of Opportunity' from Season 4. So, now I really want to read a Jack/Daniel fic based on this episode. I see two on your list: 'Judging the Book' (unfortunately, the link is broken) and 'Confused Colonels, Disgruntled Archaeologists, and Other Problems of Temporal Distortions'. I haven't found any of yours on this topic. Are there any?
So, I am off to read the fic, and... that's a third 'thank you' from me. :)

Yeah, I might do it one day. At the moment I am quite happy with "Confused Colonels, Disgruntled Archaeologists, and Other Problems of Temporal Distortions". It's exactly what I wanted to read. XD
Well, funny thing is that I really am a McShepper, and I never thought of shipping Jack and Daniel. Not sure I am there yet, but I like what I've read so far.
