Rodney thinks that bonding experiences should probably not involve his bathtub.
Set in S4, after Teyla and John clashed, Teyla is suspended from team missions because of her pregnancy. This is the aftermath of a misson gone wrong told from Rodney's POV and pretty amusing. In humorous stories I often find that the comical part is somewhat overdone, steering the story right into the realm of comedy. This one balances skillfully on the edge. It is funny, with a pinch of insightful perceptions of Rodney, which shows how well he knows his teammates, though without turning the characters straight into comedy figures.
Teyla comes to the door satisfactorily promptly, her eyes sparkling, a pair of pants tucked under her arm. "I hope these will do."
"Thanks," Ronon says, and pulls them on.
"He was taking a bath," Rodney says, because he feels he ought to make some effort to set the record straight.
"You have a bathtub?" Teyla asks, craning her neck to try to see around the bathroom door. "My quarters have only a shower, and I am finding lately that my back has been--"
"Yes, fine," Rodney says. "Never mind the entire concept of personal space, because clearly it doesn't apply to my friends. But you have to bring your own pants."
The door opens on those words, and for a moment John looks like he sincerely can't think of a single thing to say.
"Hello, John," Teyla says.
"Hi, Teyla," John says.
"We're ready to debrief," Ronon says.
"Well, if you're ready," John says. Rodney could explain, but he finds that he doesn't really want to. It's kind of satisfying to make John get that look.
