Why This Must Be Read: Author's Summary: For reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, Jack is down a cliff.

First off, for those who might care, I just want to mention that while Jack and Daniel are in an obviously caring and established slash relationship in this story, there's no sex here - just some reference to that relationship - and, while that interpersonal 'caring' part is a major thing throughout, as far as I'm concerned this is basically a gen action h/c drama story (despite the traditional requirement for a 'slash' label ... I sure wish there was such a thing as a 'gen slash' label).

When Jack falls into peril, Daniel is the only one available to help. The situation is life-threatening, plus it's getting dark out and the weather sucks. There's action, hurt/ comfort, wonderfully written characterisations, hints of an interesting off-world culture, great Jack dialogue, and a very well-rounded competent Daniel. In short, what I like about this fic: well, pretty much everything.

Why This Must Be Read: this is a deliciously dark AU which leans into Teyla's Wraith aspect, so that first contact with her goes very differently for John, and by implication, the expedition, and indeed Earth. Subtly horrific, and hot.

Why This Must Be Read: I was so excited to see that Tipper wrote a new fic after all these years!

This is a sensitive, insightful piece that explores Teyla's quest to better understand Rodney's choices during a bullying experience. I love that their misunderstandings with one another are genuine and come from their different experiences and cultural understandings. Teyla and Rodney are perfectly in character in this fic filled with so many hard and warm friendship feels.

For those that have experienced bullying, this fic will ring especially true. Rodney's experience is authentic as his reaction. I love how Teyla doesn't understand Rodney's motivations here because so many that haven't experienced bullying really wouldn't understand how it feels and what makes it worse. Tipper handles this topic perfectly, true to the experiences many have us had to deal with at one time or another.
