Why This Must Be Read: This is a wonderful Beauty and the Beast McShep, hands down the best Fairytale AU fic I've read so far. It follows the Disney film in parts, especially in that there are animated inanimate objects, but in the mixed rural and Atlantis setting it's more sci-fi than magic and Salchat has adapted it to an adult audience so well. Rodney as the reclusive beast is perfect, and John as the beauty is fitting in a way that's not obvious.
