Why This Must Be Read: My primary reason for reccing this fic right now is that, boo, life is a bit busy at the moment and I don't have time to root around in my favourites to find something better. So sorry; I hope you do not mind getting this instead. This story follows on from the loss of Robert Rothman in the episode 'The First Ones', but is a direct tag for and takes place shortly after the later episode 'Beast of Burden', in which Daniel not only gave up (gasp!) while locked in the barn, but also condoned the start of an armed uprising (again, gasp!). An appropriate short summary: Daniel's having control issues (in that there seems to be a lack of it) ... and Jack is there to help.

I am so sorry, but there's some iffy, obscure exposition at the beginning which you might find confusing; I hope you can hang in there, as it'll be explained as you read on. There are also lots of airplane parts mentioned throughout.

Why This Must Be Read: This will be well known I'm sure, but I wanted to rec it in this category as it's a major animal transformation work, and deservedly a classic. John is transformed into a small black cat off-world in Rodney's absence, and it's all a bit traumatic for him until Rodney takes charge and starts looking after him. The stories are sometimes cute, sometimes poignant, and in spending time as a cat, John gets a lot closer to Rodney, cat-person extraordinaire, and gradually resolves some of his issues with an eventual non-furry relationship developing at the end. The 'verse is about them navigating this new relationship of cat and cat-friend, and about trust and intimacy.
