Why This Must Be Read: This is a post-apocalyptic fic with a werewolf twist. I'm generally not fussed about wolf type fics, but this one is so poignant and so deep feeling that it's one of my desert-island fics. Rodney's travelling alone after a great plague wipes almost everyone out, and comes across a wolf in a spot of trouble. He assists the wolf and gains a travelling companion, and eventually a lover. The POV switches between Rodney and John, starting with John's past and eventually bringing him to the present. They both have to face what it means that John's part wolf, and the concept of 'pack' is enormously important. It's remarkably feel-good despite the setting.
