Why this story should be read As it turns out there's something Rodney has failed to mention about his genetic makeup. Everyone gets a little freaked out by it, but it all turns out okay especially for John. A creative, fun story with just enough weirdness to it to be perfect for Halloween.

So he studied Daniel Jackson's professional history the way his curriculum vitae informed him he had studied the history and languages of this planet. He made private, independent assessments of the people around him, uncontaminated by what others might have told him about them or about his past interactions with them. He learned what he could learn by reading. What the four members of SG-1 didn't seem to realize, despite knowing full well that one of Doctor Jackson's specialties was anthropology, was that he was nearly as good at reading people as he was at reading text.

Why This Must Be Read: This story's about Atlantis having seceded and being fully integrated into Pegasus, and an institution of higher learning. Mira wrote a lot of stories in this "cut off or seceded" category, some a lot sadder or angstier, but, written for the "happyfic challenge", this is one of the most uncomplicatedly happy ones. John and Rodney are older, in an established relationship, and welcoming Madison as a new cadet from Earth come to study at Atlantis Schola. It's a feel-good favourite of mine, and a great read.
