Why This Must Be Read:Keiko wrote this 22,000 word banquet of tropey deliciousness in 2002, and when I discovered it a few years later it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was probably the first "Aliens Made Them Do It" story I ever read, and if you like that trope, well, with this one you'd be starting at the top. Starting with an action-packed introduction that deftly handles the world building by using Daniel's observational skills, even under fire, Keiko gorgeously unfolds the guys' plight on, as she puts it, an alien world with some strange customs. This is first-time under duress, off world, and then we get to follow Jack and Daniel home to see what they make of what happened to them. Once again, the tight third person point of view lets the reader make some surprising revelations about Jack along with Daniel (hmm, I sense a pattern here with my two recs so far). Keiko's character voices are impeccable, and you can be sure since it's a rec from me that it has a happy ending. She also wonderfully captures the language barrier on the planet, something the series kind of hand waved. I have reread this story many times, as I have all her fic in this fandom.
