Why This Must Be Read: This is a really excellent team fic with almost pitch-perfect characterisations of everyone. There's boatloads of whump if you're into that sort of thing but it's the background story and supporting characters that really made this stand out for me.
The story starts with John, Rodney and Teyla being held captive by a cruel, facist offworld government, with each of them going through an entirely different kind of hell. It's dark in places but really wonderfully engaging and ultimately hopeful.
