Why This Must Be Read: A crossover with X-Men, this story is a fun read told from John's point of view during the early part of season one. In this AU crossover world, the Atlantis expedition was (mostly) made up of mutants. No X-Men characters actually make an appearance, but I like that they are peripherally still in the story by being mentioned in passing as people who exist. And the more real connection one of them ends up having to the story is, I think, rather clever. Even if you don't know X-Men very much, you should definitely still check this story out.
