Why This Must Be Read: Still on All Things Historical, and we've worked our way up to the Regency period now. There are several great fics set at this time and this is a relatively short one, but I love it as Siria's really nailed the period language and feel. It's a tantalizing glimpse of a Regency-era John and Rodney's first encounter, with charming banter and bonding.


Both of his lordship's eyebrows disappeared beneath the hair that tumbled onto his brow. "You disapprove of the navy, sir?"

"I disapprove of anything which diverts one's attention from a life of scholarship, yes," Rodney responded, chin tilting upwards defiantly, "And for a return which seems to me to be most paltry. Besides which," he continued, sounding as unwilling to speak as if Lord John were forcing the words from him, "I am quite afflicted with the sea sickness."

Seeing you rec historical fic makes me want to go through my historical-au tag and read ALL THE THINGS.

This is such an amazingly well done fic. The writing, the atmosphere, it all feels so genuine and professionally done.
