Why This Must Be Read: The Summary says: Rodney McKay never made a nuclear bomb in his life. Although it's possible Dr. Sheppard might have made a few.

Two professors have left the University to move on to new project. One is Rodney McKey and the other is John Sheppard.

Rodney isn’t an astrophysicist his girlfriend persuaded him to try something else instead and eventually he became a malacologist and studies molluscs. John is a physics professor and at their leaving party he and Rodney hook up for the night.

The following morning where the story begins it’s a mad rush by both men to the airport. Rodney begins to wonder why John is following him around when he bumps into John at the airport and can’t make his way to the gate without John who is his usual laconic and languid self. Both have individual cover stories and travel plans but unbeknownst to the other they have been recruited by Elizabeth Weir to join her expedition and are travelling to the same location.

Why This Must Be Read: I was very pleased to see Tallulah Rasa, one of the queens of gen fic, moving her stories from her now-defunct web page to AO3 so that they're still available for our reading pleasure. Here's one that I haven't recced yet: a fantastic look at seven different ways Jack might have left the SGC (or not), full of friendship and snark and humor and a generous dash of angst and (mostly) happy endings.

The second and seventh are my favorites, but these are all a joy!

"It says, SG-1," Daniel said, gauging their reactions with an eyebrow shimmy only slightly less pronounced than it would have been in the old days. "We explored the universe and ate pie." He took a sip from his cup.

No one said anything for a minute, and then Sam said, "Indeed", and Daniel's coffee went up his nose.
