Why This Must Be Read: This powerful story leaps right into the middle of teamy goodness action: SG-1's efforts to rescue another team from a mission gone wrong. Only this time, Sam sees something that she -- and Jack and Teal'c -- would prefer that she didn't. And both Sam and Jack need to process what she's witnessed, and the implications for their future interactions.

While I don't think Daniel is the innocent that Sam (and, to some extent, Jack) seem to think he is in this fic, I do think that Sam needs to think that he is. And that's only peripheral to the strong impact of this friendship fic: the need for eyes that can see, and still trust. And believe, too.

This story speaks beautifully of Sam and Jack's friendship: both in the military, both protecting those in need, and both still unbroken, in the end.

She heard the subtext. I am not the man you think I am.

And he needed to know that he wasn't. He needed to know and believe that he was much more than the man she thought he was.

Why this must be read:

Xover with Babylon 5

B5 and SG1 are two fandoms that you would think are very hard to cross well; however, Medie proves that assumption wrong with this gem of a fic that left my jaw on the floor for its sheer writing. Instead of dwelling on the "how" of the story, Medie gives us a glimpse into the character aspect of such a crossover. Told from the POV of Commander Susan Ivanova (one of my fav characters from B5, I must admit), Medie delves into how this new arrival affects Susan on a personal and professional level. And let me tell you, Medie's grasp of Susan's character voice is out of this world! At the same time, Sam must come to grips that there is no way home and needs to find herself a home in this new place and century. The median these two reach at the end is both heart-twinging (for Sam's sake), and yet uplifting in that at least they found each other. Go read and enjoy. It's fifteen minutes very well spent. :)

Story Summary: god help you if you find anything out here, the reports for that multiply like minbari at a prayer service to which there is no end
