Why This Must Be Read: This powerful story leaps right into the middle of teamy goodness action: SG-1's efforts to rescue another team from a mission gone wrong. Only this time, Sam sees something that she -- and Jack and Teal'c -- would prefer that she didn't. And both Sam and Jack need to process what she's witnessed, and the implications for their future interactions.
While I don't think Daniel is the innocent that Sam (and, to some extent, Jack) seem to think he is in this fic, I do think that Sam needs to think that he is. And that's only peripheral to the strong impact of this friendship fic: the need for eyes that can see, and still trust. And believe, too.
This story speaks beautifully of Sam and Jack's friendship: both in the military, both protecting those in need, and both still unbroken, in the end.
She heard the subtext. I am not the man you think I am.
And he needed to know that he wasn't. He needed to know and believe that he was much more than the man she thought he was.

Date: 2011-08-20 12:39 am (UTC)You're right, this isn't on my LJ, because I wrote it just before I got onto LJ. However, I've put it up on AO3 (http://archiveofourown.org/works/242319) now that you've recced it!
I'm still trying to put my old fics up there, but got kinda sidelined because I've got so many other fics to still put up there!
