Tau'ri Bards and the Lack Thereof

Why this must be read:

An intriguing look at Ronon, the roll of Bards in Pegasus culture, and how the Tau'ri don't have Bards, but they all carry the soul and function of a Bard. I just adore Meyari's look at Ronon, a man who is among the last of his people and the struggle he faces trying to understand his new people. There's nothing like an outsider POV to make you look at your own culture in a new way. I found myself contemplating the role of poetry, music, and stories in our modern world, just from reading this. A fic that can make you think is a rare and beautiful thing. So add that into a wonderful look at Ronon, Pegasus culture, and Earth culture from an outsider POV, and this fic is a joy to the senses and mind. :)

Story Summary: Ronon has a question that no one seems to know the answer to: Where are the Tau'ri bards?

Why this must be read:

Another incredible look at early Teal'c and SG1 when the team was still forming and Teal'c was still finding his place on Earth. Dira uses the vehicle of papercuts and writing to analyze how different the Tau'ri are from Teal'c's previous life and culture. I love how Teal'c views the paper as a secret weapon; this shows how life under the Goa'uld has shaped his world view so well. His reflection on how the rest of SG1 reacts to his deliberate papercutting is like a lovely look into the future at how SG1 will grow into the team we all know and love.  So with wonderful team-y moments and culture introspection, this fic is guaranteed to entertain and make you smile.

Story Summary: The Tau'ri's paper was as unexpectedly dangerous as they were themselves. Teal'c raised his eyebrows, impressed.
