Why this must be read:

 What if Daniel had been the one taken by Jolinar as host? What if they had made if off planet? This is one of the more unusual uses of the AU that I've encountered in SG-1 fandom. Telepathicpixie uses the "what if" idea to explore the different points of view and ethics of two very distinct and different cultures, that of Earth and the Tok'ra. Each sees the struggle with the Goa'uld and the methods that should be employed to defeat them with very different eyes. I found it very inspired that telepathic chose to use Daniel as the host, too. A man whose wife and brother-in-law were taken as hosts is DEFINITELY going to have his perspective colored when the subject of Tok'ra and their hosts comes up. The internal debates between Jolinar and Daniel makes for very fascinating reading. I won't spoil how everything turns out so go read!

Story Summary: Jolinar didn't take Sam as a host, but Daniel, who (as he didn't visit Cassie at the hospital) leaves Earth.

A beautiful story about Teyla taking care of her team. It has very good character voices, lots of funny scenes and made me feel all warm and fuzzy.
(The beginnings of a McKay/Sheppard romance ("things") are not the focus of the story.)

Why This Must Be Read: This is a haunting glimpse of life on Abydos during the year of peace that Sha'uri and Daniel had before the Stargate reopened. I love Sha'uri's perspective here - her mischievousness, her thought processes, her cultural upbringing. There is love and humor and satisfaction... and the first trickling of unease, with that last line more ominous than Sha'uri or Daniel can ever know.

I adore stories set on Abydos, and this one is more evocative than most. It's the beginning of the end, or the end of the beginning -- either way, it's well worth reading!


She learns to kiss with her whole mouth, like she's trying to swallow down his soul for safekeeping, and sometimes she sings the old songs into his ear.
