The subjects for the experiment, a box of Peeps marshmallow candies, were provided by Dr. Daniel Jackson, and Teal'c was responsible for firing the zat'ni'ktel. Colonel O'Neill assisted in the disposal of experimental subjects after testing was complete.

Why This Must Be Read: The saying goes that eavesdroppers hear no good of themselves. That's not first on Jack's mind when he's overheard Sam, Janet, and Daniel discussing the homoeroticism of the SGC and the military in general. But he pushes the issue, so Daniel breaks out the cluebat. Finally Jack manages to work in a surprise of his own.

In a fairly short space, this story moves from funny to heavy to sweet and around all three again—with just Jack and Daniel being Jack and Daniel. Lokei writes wonderful character notes and voices, and gives us a very satisfying wakeup call for an oblivious colonel.

Why this must be read:

I can’t begin to imagine having to watch the person you love be tortured and murdered in front of you; it’s not something the average American has to contemplate or experience. Well, in this utterly earth-shattering fic by Kalimyre, that’s exactly what Daniel has to experience. He gets to watch Jack get tortured and murdered while captured by the Goa’uld. Daniel is taken from the cell under the impression that Jack’s dead only to find out later that he was put in a sarcophagus and revived.

This fic is incredibly moving and heart wrenching while Daniel and Jack are recuperating Earth-side. Daniel just can’t leave Jack alone, can’t stop touching him to tell himself that Jack is alive. Kalimyre has a strong grasp on Daniel’s and Jack’s characters in a fic that deals with such emotional content; I can definitely picture these two acting this way under this sort of pressure. Just an incredible fic that deals realistically with horrible circumstances.
