Why this must be read: This is a Jack/Sam pregnancy fic, and a very well done one at that. It starts out all fluffy, but by the end I was almost bawling. A heartbreakingly loving fic that absolutely slays me. Sorry to be so vague, but I'm not giving away the ending.

Why this must be read: SG-1 has to deal with the aftermath of a mission to a matriarchal planet where Jack, Daniel and Teal'c are forced to become sex slaves in order to keep Sam safe. This fic is absolutely amazing. Although the biggest pairing by far in this fic is Sam/Jack, this fic also hints at Sam/Daniel UST, Sam/Teal'c UST and vague OT4 UST as well. Seldear does an amazing job writing Sam and her emotional entanglements with the guys. Seldear also does a great job painting a picture of what SG-1 went through with just a few words here and there, some scattered flashbacks - your imagination can fill in the rest.

Why this must be read: Subtle, hidden, unexpected, those are words that makes romance romantic and you can find this everything in this story. A fic when you can see Sam just from other side of the screen but her presence is felt there all the time in Teal'c's strange behavior and ever prying Cameron. I always loved this side of him, the uncertainty of his position, and the slight fear of overstepping. I left this fic as last because it made my smile last much longer.

Why this must be read:

In this little gem, Paian has managed to fit a whole adventure, mortifying embarrassment, teamy-y goodness, character development and revelations, hotness and humor - into 4,150 words.  There is one paragraph in particular which includes the dulcet tones of an alien warning klaxon that always, always makes me laugh. 

The authors summary:

A hairsbreadth escape from a System Lord, a tel'tak damaged in a firefight, four SG-1 members, three functioning lifepods; Daniel won't let Jack sacrifice himself by staying behind, and Jack winds up crammed in a lifepod with Daniel. Mature/adult

Why this must be read:

When I was in my anti-AU incarnation, this was one of the very few that snuck in under the radar and charmed the socks off of me. Author calls it inspired by Indecent Proposal, but she makes it all seem so fresh and well characterized that I only see the fic.

Daniel is his introspective, conflicted self and Jack, while not military, is still Jack. The settings are "see-able", the frustration Daniel experiences in the beginning of this was so palpable I wanted to throw things, the dialog fabulous and the hotness? Sheesh.

My description from my own rec-notes after first reading..."J/D AU Daniel is a down & out archaeologist in a tight spot. Jack has an even tighter spot in mind *g*"  That sounds a little more lurid than I intend. There's lots of mental calisthenics and heartfelt angst/joy etc...so much more than the PWP such a description would imply.

Why this must be read: South Pier gives a glimpse into an established McKay/Sheppard/Beckett relationship through the expedition's pressuring Elizabeth to allow both relocations to larger quarters, and a relaxation of a 'no fraternization' policy. Though brief, this fic captures Rodney, John and Carson's relationship, Carson's insecurity, and even an interesting take on Elizabeth with crisp brevity. Though I usually look for a longer fic, I feel that Cassie captures her concept beautifully enough that nothing seems to be missing by the lack of length. A great quick read!
