Why this must be read: Sam and Daniel chat offworld during the dead of the night. I love the questions Sam and Daniel ask each other - the answers are really insightful looks into each member of SG-1. The fic has a very intimate feel to it, just like a conversation conducted in shadows at 3AM. Perri does a great job writing the characters and how much they care about each other.

Daniel shook his head, staring grimly into the fire, coffee mug dangling forgotten from one hand. "When did I turn into this guy who feels wrong when he's not in fatigues? Feels naked when he's not carrying a gun, for God's sake?"

Why this must be read: Desperate to reassure himself that he has fully recovered from being turned by the Wraith, Ronon asks Sheppard to join him in a test of endurance and teamwork. Ronon has the best of intentions, but the Pegasus Galaxy has other plans. Soon, Ronon and Sheppard are trapped on a world they cannot escape from, forced to make impossible choices, each one leading them a little further into hell.

I was a beta for this, but I would have rec’ed it no matter the circumstances. This has a meaty plot, chocked full of wonderful characterizations, harrowing adventure, and painful moments. Not only does this explore Wraith culture, but it has some great Todd interactions that are very true to his nature. This is one of those rare fics that gives us the wonderful friendship between Ronon and John in spades, but actually has them butting heads with believability in several conflicting situations. Add to it, a great team storyline that balances out our two guys, this is a rare long story that goes by very quickly, and will leave you a bit exhausted.
