Why this must be read:

This is us looking through John Sheppard’s eyes as he deals with someone he knows mainly as a legend, rather than as a man, but he’s about to get to know him one hell of a lot better. This is not just Jack that John is planning to sleep with, it’s General O’Neill, and John isn’t quite sure how things are going to roll. But I really can see Jack as he is here: assured, but not arrogant, and very matter-of-fact. For a fairly short account of an encounter in a hotel room, we get a fantastic picture of both the men in it. This broke two of my OTPs - and made me like it!

Why this must be read:

John and Teyla have a late-night talk after the events of "Poisoning the Well". It's great because it explores how different John and Teyla view what the Hoffans did. Contrast between the Earthlings and the Pegasus natives are always interesting.

Because it is very, very hot. And it has John begging. What more could you want?

Why this must be read:

A rather long fic, but totally worth the read. John and Teyla are lost in a space anomaly, and must survive in an extremely dangerous environment, while their friends must first realize John and Teyla are not dead before finding a way to rescue them. Each chapter is from the point of view of a particular character.

Why this must be read:

John is very interested in Teyla's neck, which makes it very hard for him to concentrate on anything, and that makes for a very funny fic.

Why This Must Be Read:  When SG-1 are captured on a mission while on a world at war with another, Jack, Teal'c, and Carter are pressed into enforced service to teach the natives their technical and military skills and strategies.  In a culture focused solely on its military complex and its needs, Daniel is deemed to have no skills of value and is separated from SG-1, but...   Soldiers have needs and Daniel is forced to serve.  Sideburns does an excellent job here of world-building and in providing insight into a culture alien to our own, but the focus here on Daniel and the layers she explores in his personality and psychology during and after his ordeal are what holds the reader and the center of the fic.  "I'm fine" doesn't cut it after his ordeal, and the author vividly and believably portrays Daniel's denial, acceptance and recovery.  Able support is provided to him by Jacob and Janet, and when the rest of SG-1 becomes aware of what happened to him, we're treated to the same subtle, layered portrayal of SG-1's denial, acceptance and recovery as a team and as individuals.

Author's Summary:  Part 1 - "SG-1 is taken prisoner and Jack bargains for their eventual release.  Only problem is -- Daniel isn't a soldier and thus, not allowed to remain with Jack and the rest of SG-1.  Uh-oh, And uhm, Sam learns a few things about herself later on."  Part 2 - "The Rescue of Servi1XY-13 begins -- and consequently, the rescue of SG-1."

Link:  Worlds Enough, and Time

Why This Must Be Read:  This first class epic novel from Biblio starts from the simple premise of Jack O'Neill, for reasons he's unsure of himself, being completely unable to leave Daniel behind at the end of what was the original Stargate movie.  There follows a complex, insightful, and ingenious story that mixes original elements with canon elements in creating a new first year for the SGC that's at least as plausible and satisfying as the canon version.  All the hallmarks of a Biblio story are here, i.e.  well-paced plotting, context and character driven humor, deep, layered, and thoughtful characterizations for all the players, and a complete, rich world for them to live in.  In canon, we lose a year of time for the SGC and the Jack and Daniel relationship; in Worlds Enough, and Time we're given that year back and both are the better for it.  Jack and Daniel's evolving relationship, as it weaves around and in the SGC action, is believable, romantic and hot, nuanced and real.

Author's Summary:  "When Jack can't let Daniel go, the world changes forever around them."

Link: The Fission of Silence (The author's site is at GeoCities, so I've provided an alternate link for the story.)

Why This Must Be Read:   The story begins with Daniel's "rescue" after spending months alone in brutal, abusive servitude in offworld captivity, then proceeds to tell of his recovery.  Not your traditional hurt/comfort story, by any means, The Fission of Silence asks hard questions, such as how much physical and emotional pain can one person endure and who will that person be in the aftermath, who will your friends and loved ones be, and portrays the just as hard answers with honesty and realism, with depth and insight.  This is one of the first fics I read when I got to the SG-1 fandom, and, dark and bleak it undoubtedly is, it is also one of the most powerful and emotionally resonant stories I've read in any fandom.

Author's Summary: "When a mind and a body are split, what exactly can be expected to return?"
