Daniel's POV is rich with his grounding in archeology and linguistics, and the bleak backdrop of loss and desolation is stark against the powerful, almost wordless communication between Jack and Daniel. And while Daniel may not wholly accept it, it's Jack - and the team at his back - that will always make the difference.

Why This Must Be Read:

Set during The Return (the episode that pretty much keeps John/Cam ficcers in business), John gets turned into a woman – as you do, if you’re on stargate – and ends up more or less living with Cam while they wait for it to wear off. Oh, and if that’s not enough to worry about, John’s kind of in love with Cam, who’s kind of really straight.

Scrollgirl is one of my all time favourite John/Cam authors, and this is a great example of why. She writes Cam just like he is in the show, with his desire to make things better and all of his compassion and caring. She also writes the stuff that makes him really human – that he doesn’t always know the best thing to do, or do it if he does know, and, in this case, he can’t see what’s there so easily. She also writes John’s struggle so well, and his friendship and closeness with Cam.

There are already sequels to this, and she’s planning a couple of au’s of it, so if you like it, there’ll be *so much more* :o)
