An episode tag for 'Common Ground', this story explores the after-effects of that deadly touch by a Wraith. John ends up retreating from even ordinary physical encounters and suffers insomnia due to recurring nightmares. Despite his insistence that he's fine, he ends up searching out Rodney, who he inherently trusts. Rodney, being who he is, volunteers to solve John's problem 'scientifically.'

The interactions between John and Rodney are wonderfully balanced between impatience and sympathy, anger and acceptance. Their relationship slowly grows into something more as John begins to find his way back to normal with Rodney's help and they end up as something more than friends.

This story is my fourth Sam/Daniel rec for the month, and so ends my first time reccing here. I really wanted to do more than the bare minimum but my stupid life noticed my quiet plotting to sign up to rec here in the hope that it would force me to find time to read more of the amazing fanfiction that's out there. My life (being the pain in the mikta that it is) rebelled, and I've been insanely busy all month. But four is better than none, and I have every intention of signing up again. I'll just have to be extra-special-sneaky about it so my meddlesome life doesn't notice.

Why This Must Be Read:

It's a few years into a post-apocalypic Earth and what happened to get it that way is a facinating and satisifyingly gradual reveal. Wandering Blind has a snazzy action/adventure filling sandwiched between two deliciously sexy "it's complicated" relationship cookies.

This story is everything I wish I could write. It has it all: an incredible Jack voice; deep and believable characterisation; the perfect mix of angst and suspense and humour... Also? Zombies.
