angelsgracie.livejournal.comIt's been a bit since I've done one of these. Life is going to get pretty busy for me starting next month, as I'm a HUGE Indianapolis Colts fan and am very involved with the fannish part of the team. So this may be the last one for a few months, unless something major comes up. :)
New Volunteers:
We have some new volunteers. As I posted before, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] has stepped down from her position. It's a big loss, as she's been a volunteer from the time I set up the system. However, I'm excited about our new full-time volunteer, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. She's been an active rec'cer for the comm for several months now and is eager to accept her new role. Thankfully, she's going to continue rec'cing as well. All of you Jack/Daniel fans should thank her for that! :)
We also have two new backup volunteers. I'd like to welcome [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] to the mix. I'm excited about all of our new volunteers!
Link List
As many long-time members of the comm know, I have been putting up a list every month, detailing the available categories and the links to them. However, I'm going to be stopping this practice. By now, everyone should know that the link to all the categories is on the userinfo page. Either myself or [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] will post that link in one of our posts each month. Other than that, I'm taking out that separate post.
Volunteering to Rec
Just a reminder that we'd rather people didn't wait until the last minute to volunteer. The postings are there all the time. You can volunteer whenever. The only thing you cannot do is choose which month in which you want to rec. We try to be very easy to work with. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and I spend several days at the beginning of the month, trying to keep up with adding to the list of rec'cers. I know there are those who wait until I put up the rec'cer list and then go sign up, but I really wish you'd actually go sign up before I put up that list.
Also, if you are one of the people who does sign up early to rec, please keep in mind that if you sign up during the first week of the month, and there's no volunteer in line ahead of you, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] assumes that you're volunteering for the current month. It may be something that you want to keep in mind when you set out to volunteer. I know some continual rec'cers wait until the second or third week just to avoid the situation. Just thought I'd put that out there for consideration.
Posting Access Post
Please realize that it may take a day or so for me to get new names added to the rec'cer list. Generally what happens after I add to that list is that I will send [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] a list of names and then she will grant them access from that list. If you signed up to rec after the first of month, then please realize that you will not be granted access when [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] first switches access. New rec'cers won't be added until a few days later, once I give her the list. There have been times when people have told her that they are rec'cing and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] hasn't had time to send me the updated list yet... so basically I have no idea that you're rec'cing. We try to work as quickly as possible, so please be patient with us. We're a well-oiled machine when we go through the first round, but late sign ups take us a day or so to put together. Please, if you have any questions about the status of your posting access, and you find that your name is not on the rec'cers post for the current month, then leave a comment for [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] on your original volunteer post and she'll get back with you. It'll help immensely if you contact her as she's the one who determines who volunteers for what every month. Thanks!
Tidbits
I want to say a big "THANK YOU" to everyone for keeping the SG-1 portion of the comm up and running. I have to admit that I was afraid that interest would slack drastically once the show ended. That hasn't been the case, and I'm soooooooooooooooooooo happy about that. It's really all the proof needed about how great Stargate fans are! Keep up the great work!
