Why this must be read:

He’d loved her too.

This is a bittersweet piece about how Rodney and Laura's friendship turns into love, but how fear means that they never get the chance to be together. After one night together Rodney returns to Atlantis to find that Laura is back with Carson and that there relationship has become much more serious. Laura struggles with how to deal with her feelings for the two men and Rodney later sacrifices his own feelings to help Carson. Una_spectre has done a beautiful job in writing this and it will make you feel for all the characters involved, because no one is the bad guy, but someone will lose. There are happy moments however, and some great team moments. The friendship between Carson and Rodney is also really well portrayed

There are several episodes that I consider pivotal to Daniel's character development.  Moebius is certainly one of my favorites!

Why This Must Be Read: I have long-adored Moebius for what it offered the fanfic writing community and brainofck does not disappoint in Grains of Sand. Alt!Jack has tracked Daniel and his jug of firewater to a nearby sand dune where Daniel has inexplicably decided now is the moment to wrap his big and slightly pickled brain around the concept of Alternate Universes. As he moves through philosophical, tearful,  bitter and angry, Daniel provides one of the best canon-supported summaries of Jack's relationship to his team I've read. And it makes the reader wonder, can you love the one you're with?

I am cheating a bit here by posting a St Patrick's Day rec (no, I did not sign up for that, but it doesn't look like anyone else did either) that happens to work in one of my official rec categories as well.

Why This Must Be Read: Oh, it is beautiful! It pulls you through Jack and Daniel's relationship over the years, using St Patrick's Day as a marker. This is a clever time-progression trick that takes me down every time I see it deployed. The fact that it is timely (break out your bad renditions of Danny Boy before Monday, folks) just pleases me more. I was wondering where Jack's smiling Irish eyes were!!!
