Why This Must Be Read: It’s hot and funny, and the rapport between Vala and Daniel rings true to the show. The author does a great job of capturing both Vala’s and Daniel’s voices. While off-world on a mission, Daniel and Vala have a conversation about Daniel’s social life or lack thereof at Vala’s initiation, which leads to the two discovering more about each other and taking a step into unchartered waters.

Why This Must Be Read: I cannot believe that this story has not been rec’ced yet! I suppose it could actually be considered Jack/Daniel/Jack friendship. Because, well, two Jacks are better than one. Set not too terribly long after the season 7 episode “Fragile Balance”, Building Foundations takes a peek into the lives of “Jon”, Daniel, and Jack. Most of the story focuses on Jon and Daniel as they help each other work through post-Fragile Balance and Vis Uban issues. But the story begins and ends with Jack, Daniel, and their awkward attempts to redefine their friendship after all that has happened, in true Jack and Daniel fashion. Moonshayde easily handles the characterization of the... 2.5 different characters, and allows them to have their own unique moments of bonding. This fic is a must-read.
