Why This Must Be Read: While this is technically a Daniel/Vala fic, I thought to rec it as a Vala fic because it's really all about Vala.  It is in Daniel's POV as Vala struggles with regaining her memory after the events of Momento Mori. The majority of this fic takes place between when they finally find her and when she's accepted into SG-1.  I liked the backstory she created for Vala and her relationships with everyone, in particular Daniel whom she uses as a confident when the less then lovely memories emerge.

Why This Should Be Read:

JD from Scrubs goes to Atlantis = best experimental crack ever!

Even if you have never in your life watched an episode of Scrubs (think medical show already on its own brand of crackified humor), you'll still be rolling on the floor after reading this little gem. Seeing our beloved Atlantis through JD is just fantastic - Mckay can certainly give the Janitor a run for his money.

And the best part of it all is that skoosiepants still manages to give this fic an underlying heart, despite the laugh a minute pace and spot on JD narration.

Why This Must Be Read: I just love this AU that rolleson created. Atlantis members work in a library, or at the local school and are regulars at the library, where Elizabeth is cheif librarian. It's very funny, and it's got some lovely McWeir stuff in it. And even though they have completly different lives there still all in character somehow!

Why This Must Be Read: Shades of Grey is such a powerful character ep; we get lots of Daniel anguish, and Sam distress, and Teal'c dismay at Jack's behavior. But while there are many, many stories out there based on this episode, some in which the characters figure out the ploy and some in which they don't, this seems to be the only one I can find where Sam and Daniel retreat to commiserate and lick their wounds together.

It's short and miserable and so exactly them as Sam and Daniel get maudlin and moodily swap insults for their much-lamented and not-quite-sure-dearly-departed former CO. The real zinger, of course, is the final exchange, which neatly explains just why they're so disturbed.

At only 300 words, Synonomy perfectly showcases the Sam and Daniel friendship and their reaction to one of the most hurtful eps of S3. And it's a very quick read, so why not go and take a look? You'll be glad you did.

Why This Must Be Read: Who in Atlantis fandom hasn't read miss_porcupine's work? Her fic is amazing fun with a good helping of realism and filled with terrific characterization and wonderful original characters that round out the world of Atlantis and make it seem like a very real place. In this gapfiller for the time between The Lost Boys and The Hive, we're given a look through Zelenka's eyes at how the team's disappearance is quite literally affecting Atlantis. It's a nice glimpse into the relationship between the city and the expedition, Sheppard in particular and how important the team really is to the city.
