Why This Must Be Read: I've often called Tallulah Rasa one of the queens of gen fic. Sadly, many of my favorites are no longer available online; this one, though, with its thoughtful examination of memory and personality and the spaces between, is fortunately still on her webpage.

In this AU of Season Seven, Daniel's memories are permanently lost, and he has to start all over again. No one finds this easy – not Daniel himself, nor his friends, who keep expecting to find recognition and understanding and only meet with blank, polite incomprehension. But the person who finds it hardest is, unsurprisingly, Jack O'Neill.

While Daniel and Sam and Teal'c try to find a way towards acceptance of Not Daniel and his new beginnings, Jack is still fighting against what he sees as a premature surrender at the loss of his closest friend. And it takes Daniel – this new, different, but oddly just-the-same Daniel – to find a way to bring Jack back to their changed friendship. Certainly, the method that finally makes the breakthrough is uniquely Jack and Daniel!

Written with Tallulah Rasa's usual sharp insights into the characters, the turns and twists of Not will leave you, like Jack, not quite sure what to think – but glad you've taken the journey.

Why This Must Be Read: The author calls it "OT3," but it's apparently defined here as I use the term myself: teamy goodness. You're not going to hear me complaining. :)

This lovely, elegant story has the human contingent of SG-1 – Sam, Jack, and Daniel – dumped on the Alpha Site, some time at the beginning of S3, on a training exercise. (Teal'c, sadly, is not part of this fic.) They have to find each other before they're found by the Marines searching for them, and make it safely to the Gate.

What follows is a fascinating, deeply absorbing character study, as each person's POV is carefully and lovingly handled. Section by section, each in their own way, they make their trek – and spot one another – and meet. (Sam's analysis of her teammates is my favorite bit.) Until, in the end, as they're sheltering from a rainstorm, Jack reflects that "he'd deny anyone to sort them out" – to be able to clearly tell where one of them ends, and the next one begins.

Lovely, intelligent teamy goodness. There's nothing like it.

Rec Category: Jonas Quinn
Pairing: Jonas/Sam
Category: Angst, Episode Related, Het, Romance, Missing Scene
Warning: Het, Spoilers for Season Six ep Prophecy
Author on LJ: Not Known
Author's Website: Jonas Fic
Link: Prophecy's Burden

Why This Must Be Read:

Besides the fact that this is probably my all-time favorite Jonas fic? *g* Well it is. I make no delusions about the popularity of this character. But in all honesty, if it weren't for Jonas Quinn, I would not be watching Stargate SG-1. So when an author as talented as Drea writes a beautiful fic about him, I want to pay it homage. I was going to use this fic as my finale, but I didn't want to wait any longer to share it.

The story takes place during the Season Six episode Prophecy. It's more a missing scene than anything else. Jonas is overwhelmed with guilt about the accident that happens to Sam. He blames himself for the fact that she almost died and when he goes to check on her, he's shown nothing but compassion and understanding. Sam reiterates the sentiment of the episode that Jonas has worth to SG-1 not because of his abilities to 'see' the future, but because he himself is important. As it turns out, he's extremely important to her.

There's a rawness in the scene when Jonas is finally able to open up to her and they share a moment of complete honesty. There's no barriers between them. He is able to share his emotions without being judged. I just can't say enough good things about this fic. It's Jonas/Sam, my favorite pairing. I really, really like Sam with him, and this story is simply wonderful in showing that special relationship they have.
