Morning Shadows (Hammond POV) Why This Must Be Read: I was so excited when I rediscovered this series, because I had read it ages ago early in my fandom experience and didn't remember where or even who wrote it (I'm notoriously bad at that).
Each one of these stories can be read by themselves (Bonus! Four fics for the price of one!). Carrie leaves enough background to make each tale rich and suspenseful in and of itself, but I'm listing them in chronological order and I highly recommend reading the series in order.
I love the device of telling the story through different points of view. And this series is one of the finest examples of it. Plus by focusing on each of the fab four, everyone's favorite character has a chance to shine, and Carrie gives interesting character studies and perspectives for each of the team.
The summary: Classic team SG-1 (post S4 Entity) gates to a place where they're feted by the locals, and only when it's too late to turn back do they realize there's been a cultural misunderstanding of highest levels, and an enforced ritual confrontation with a bull. Heavy whumping warning for any/all of the SG-1 boys.
Not a typical the guys are Sam's male harem tale. This one has heart, soul, and amazing depth to it.
ETA:
sg_fignewton alerted me to a "missing scene" addition to the series from Hammond's POV (listed above as Part 5), so there's even more to the story. And it too is a nice, sweet character study from a skewing perspective.
