Why This Must Be Read: Written for the Harlequin challenge at sga_flashfic, this is a nice little take on John and Teyla's first meeting but this is much more brief as they only spot each other at the bar and smile at each other briefly. But aha, there's more to that than it seems! There's a little angst on John's part and the story is left open-ended as it's displayed as an excerpt from an imaginary romance novel, but it's nonetheless very enjoyable.

Excellant display of the trust between John and Rodney through sex, I love the willingness on Rodney's part to do what John wants and both parties getting pleasure out of giving pleasure.

The sex is scorchingly hot and hits one of my kinks that I rarely see used.

Why This Must Be Read: AU holiday crack!fics are love because Rodney as a Christmas elf….yeah, love. This is an AU but the author makes Rodney convincible as an over-worked frustrated elf. Toss in a few of our favorite characters, such as Caldwell as Santa, not to mention bringing back Grodin and Lindstrom makes this a must read.

Why This Must Be Read: Wow, looking at those warnings and I'm not sure I'd read it, so I better make this good. Jack's a government assassin at the end of the line - one job too many and he just can't do it any more. He's just done, a dead man walking who's expecting to be gunned down at any moment like the liability he is. Daniel is having a crisis of faith; a kind of dead man walking himself. They meet in a church amidst a hail of bullets that Jack is surprised to learn are not for him. Daniel, who they apparently are for, is just as surprised - and after the bullet grazes his temple and they make their escape, he can't remember why.

I want to say more than that but I'm trying not to spoil what comes up 18,000+ words into it! Try this: the characterizations are good, the angst is poignant (no punches pulled here, and you can hear heart strings downright snapping), and the ending is happy (I'm sure Hell will freeze over someday and I'll rec a fic with a sad ending, but until then it's a guarantee). They're both circa pre-movie here for characterizations - it's as if never having met each other, some of those empty spaces haven't filled in and they're still twisting in the wind.

Oh, and there's sex. Turns out you can fit a lot of sex into 62,000 words still have lots of room to talk about other stuff. It's... *whines*... it's very nice. [/understatement]

Daniel manages to find an upside, though. *smirks* Besides the exceptional NC-17 aspects going on here, I love the way she portrays Jack in the here and now.

Why This Must Be Read: The episode of Thor’s Hammer always bothered me…why did Daniel have to destroy the Hammer? Why didn’t Sam or Jack do it? Why did Jack single out Daniel? How come there didn’t seem to be a repercussions in Daniel’s and Teal’c’s friendship? Well these and many other questions are dealt with in this little gem of a piece. Nancy does a great job of addressing these issues. This story is one where she literally just let’s the characters talk through what happen without tons of descriptors or other exposition. This works for this story because the characters need to talk. It answers the questions plus builds on the idea of SG1 growing into the family they become in season 2 and 3. Highly recommended!
