Why This Must Be Read:

I can't believe this hasn't been recced on here before. Which is why I'm looking around dubiously, wondering if it has and I just can't find it.

Before you all groan at me for reccing a High School AU, this is one of the best fics around. Based roughly on the film Can't buy me love, it features Rodney giving John money to fix his Dad's car. In return John promises to hang around with him and make Rodney cool by association.
Smitty has an amazing voice for John and Rodney, John in particular is heart breaking in places. Also in a lot of fics, you almost always find that the reasons for the characters to be apart aren't that believable and so you just can't get behid it. Smitty however, has the rare ability to make the reasons for which the two of them aren't together (yet!) so believable that it's actually a little worrying!
And as a side note, I'm almost convinced that smittwing is actually a teenaged boy in disguised she writes it so well *nods*

Written for the Reel_sga challenge, the fic is based on the film of the same name. Rodney meets international playboy Johnnie Sheppard while on a cruise in the French Riviera.

Rodney is absolutely heart breaking in this fic, and while it's AU you can see where the *real* Rodney McKay could easily be just as niave and vulnerable underneath all his brashness. I did in fact shed a few tears while reading this, and did a lot of flailing towards the end. *g*
