Following on from season 2's Conversion, this story suggests that there is a psychological link between Teyla and John due to her Wraith gene and his Iratus bug pheromone. It takes place during the days when he is recovering from his ordeal, and deals with not only the way that members of the expedition perceive John and what has happened to him, but also the way that Teyla herself feels about her connection with the Wraith.

This is a companion piece to Of Polar Bears (McKay/Sheppard) but works perfectly fine as a stand alone. This is a great little story dealing with homophobia in the US military. It takes us through Lorne's panic and fear following Sheppard's discovery of a relationship between Lorne and Parrish.

It's a incredibly well written with the tension between Lorne's private and career life painfully clear. The small details about the situation, the characters and the military make it come alive. Also important to add, there's a happy ending. :)

This is a rare story in that it approaches the start of a relationship from Teyla's point of view. We see how she comes to realise that she has romantic feelings for Rodney, and contains a great response from Rodney once she decides to express those feelings. The characters are very well-written and the story gives a realistic scenario in which this unusual couple might get together.

Why should this be read:

It is a brief insight into the Ford character that might have been. He's been weaned off the enzyme and is now back at Atlantis. But instead being happy that he's enzyme-free, Ford realizes that now, more than ever, he's truly the outsider and that his friends are afraid of him.
