Summary: Daniel has evolved a number of coping mechanisms over the years; they're useful when you suddenly find yourself starring in a Greek myth, and even more so when you're not sure which role you're playing.

Why This Must Be Read:

Synecdochic is famous in the SGA fandom for her Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose, (and if you haven't read that yet, stop reading this and go do it), but I think her SG-1 writing is wildly underappreciated, so I'm reccing my favorite of her Jack/Daniel fics.

This story is nothing short of smoulderingly hot. It hits a lot of kinks, but it absolutely nails my biggest one: spot-on characterization. This story makes words incredibly hot, and I think really digs at a place in Daniel's character that a lot of authors simply don't have the education to get at. Daniel is not only really smart, he's a linguist, and synecdochic taps into his deep knowledge of words to develop an incredibly intimate look at his headspace.

All that effort on characterization ends up making for a gritty emotional background (hello, Daniel's issues) that pushes the sex past merely well-written and into the regions of brain-melting.

Why this must be read: Maisfeeka paints a beautiful picture of how life and loss of it in the Pegasus Galaxy effects John Sheppard. In these stories John's having a tough time dealing with those he feels he should have been able to save and an even harder time talking about it. She does a beautiful job showing how Carson's determined to be there for John while he works through it, even if they have to do it on John's terms.

It's stuff like this that makes it so good:
"It's no your fault, John." There was a hint of a sigh in the voice as if it had said those words many times before and held out little hope that they would be believed. "But I suppose you would'na be the man I loved if you could let them go easily."

John looked up at him meeting his eyes for the first time. "You love me?"

"God help us both," Carson said quietly.

He sat up in a cold sweat, breath rushing out in an almost gasp. For a moment he'd thought he felt their cold hands on him and he was awake so fast the ancient Egyptians would have feared for the safety of his ka.

Rec'cers.... do NOT tag your own entries. We have volunteers who go through and do that with each and every entry. It may not be done right away, but it will get done. We have set tags that are put on entries because (if you look at the list of tags on the sidebar of our layout), there are HUNDREDS of tags. They know what tags to use for what pairings and so on. So really, it isn't helping them if you tag your own entry because they still have to go through it and take care of it.

So let them do what we pay them the big bucks for... Hehehehe!

Why This Must Be Read:

The character of Aiden Ford was woefully neglected during his brief stay at SGA, as Aiden was always in the shadows of the other main characters. When he turned into Wraith!BoyAiden, he became an interesting character in his own right. This story is about Wraith!Boy Aiden, and how he built his club of "Lost Boys". During it all, Aiden believes that John Sheppard is there with him.

Gaianarchy gives Aiden the backstory he never had on SGA, of a young Aiden neglected by a busy father who was consumed by his work and of a mother who had died too early, leaving Aiden far too much alone. Gainanarchy gives an unique insight into the relationship Aiden had with John Sheppard, what he truly craved from John, and why he disliked Rodney so much.

Sheppard shakes his head. “I gotta stay objective. I trust you to protect me.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Sheppard pats Aiden’s shoulder, squeezing tight and comforting like he hasn’t really done before. “Come on. I’ll fly us out of here.”

Snippit: A pink tongue swiped at a stray spot of whipped cream left on on the doctor's lip. Sam watched it curl daintily, then retreat once more, and bit her own lip, swallowing a groan. Janet *had* to be doing that on purpose, right? It was probably borderline obscene to be this turned on in public while little kids on sugar highs zipped by them. She was most likely reading too much into it anyway; certainly even Janet wouldn't be so brazen as to tease her in such a way.

Why This Must Be Read: It's a nice, light piece of fic, suitable for hot summer days. No angst, no intense emotional displays, it's just Janet, Samantha and Cassie at an ice cream parlor. Samantha is watching Janet eat her ice cream with an almost surgical precision.

Sam gets extremely turned on and watches Janet so intensely that Janet becomes aware.

On the plus side, Cassie's well aware of their relationship and is quite ok with it.
