Why This Must Be Read: Many Fragile Balance tag fics are angsty, as clone!Jack deals with not having "his" life anymore. This one, over the course of three parts, stretches out the loss, alienation and identity crisis over the next twenty years in a wonderfully epic storyline. It's written with a dead-on Jack POV, and a lot of humor (including an especially playful Thor). The pain is brilliantly subtle in the first part, but ratchets up to seriously cry-inducing in parts two and three.

Why This Must Be Read: This rec goes with the previous one -- Tafkar took the angstiest part of the second chapter of Danvers' Clone Series and remixed it from Daniel's POV, dialing the angst up to eleven. It's the perfect companion piece to the other fic, beautifully realized, and will rip your heart out. Don't even think of reading this without a full box of Kleenex handy.

Why This Must Be Read: Most post-Fragile Balance stories focus on the angst of the clone, having lost his friends, his career, his life. In this one, the clone has adjusted. When he has a chance run-in with Daniel ten years later, it turns out that it's the original Jack who has lost out. There is some bitter in the sweet for clone!Jack and Daniel, but it is the old guy who tugs the heartstrings in this one.

Why this must be read: I loved the way the writer showed just how much Sam and Daniel bond when their survival depends on it. It really shows deep down just how close of friends these two are. Trapped and alone they hold on to each other as they struggle to survive in what almost seems as impossible circumstances.
If violent images don't bother you, then please, do read.

Why This These Must Be Read: These two stories are short, but powerful - small moments that I could easily picture happening behind the scenes. The first wins bonus points for a very brief Zelenka-cameo, and second one has muffins. Well, a muffin.
