Why This Must Be Read: This story accomplishes so much in a just a few thousand words. We get a glimpse of Ronon's past, absolutely perfect McKay snark, and more importantly, we get to see the first few tentative steps toward friendship. And for me, that tentative friendship makes the slash all the more wonderful.

It's a quiet story but it's a story that completely sells me on the idea that Mckay and Ronon are an intriguing possibility...

Why This Must Be Read: This is one of the first Lorne/Parrish stories I read and I immediately fell in love with both them. For two characters that don't actually get much screentime, there's a fair amount of fic about them. It's a credible start to a friendship and relationship for them -- Parrish still being new to off-world missions, Lorne settling in to his new role in Atlantis. There's an interesting history that's slowly created here for Parrish. (And, there's excellent innuendo! Yay!) The story has an NC17 slash sequel: Decussate.

Why This Must Be Read: Since the PTB conveniently forgot to deal with the Athosians for the majority of the show, it's up to fanfic to deal with the issues they so often overlook. Like, for example, the murky undefined issue of Teyla's leadership position among the Athosians. Considering she spends most of her time on Atlantis and away from the mainland and her people, I've always wondered if maybe all the Athosians weren't exactly pleased with her decision to join Sheppard's team. This piece presents a perfectly plausible demonstration of why some of them, specifically Halling, might not have been all that happy with Teyla, for several reasons.

Why This Must Be Read: This was written for sga_flashfic's Debriefing challenge, and is one of the first Ronon stories I remember reading. I think that much of the way I perceive Ronon now has its roots in this story. This scene, a flashback to shortly before the Wraith attack on Sateda, is one of my favourites.
