Why This Must Be Read: This is a Jack/Daniel love story -- possibly my favorite Jack/Daniel relationship in all of fanfic. But it's also a terrific Sam story. She's been kidnapped by those who want to turn her loyalty away from her team to get her to work for them. They use an alien device that views into the past to show her proof that within her team -- her family -- there are secrets she didn't know. And it's up to Sam to withstand torture, resist manipulation, stay smart and stay tough, all while processing her emotions at learning what those closest to her have been hiding.

Why This Must Be Read: This story is for me up there with Anais's Dr. Jackson's Diary (recced here) and Keiko Kirin's Steak series (recced here) on the short list of "big long adventures that every Jack/Daniel fan should read." There are twelve chapters in all. The first several take place on a mission offworld, then SG-1 returns home and the panty-melting smut starts. There's "aliens made them do it," humor, angst, adventure, a lesson for Teal'c in human physiology, banter, betting, bickering, wetsuits, love and a whole lot of fun by the time the ride wraps up.

A few years back, I hosted a fic contest over at SJFic. As soon as I received this entry, I just knew it would win. It's that powerful. I opened the voting, and yep this piece came in a clear winner. It's set a year after a certain death, and it's raining. Feedback called it "heartbreaking, yet beautiful," "bittersweet," "touching" and "wonderfully moving." To be honest, I was stunned to not find it in the memories section for this category already.

It's a shame Aud doesn't write more, but unlike me she actually has a life *g*

Summary reads: Samantha Carter's evolving relationships with Pete Shanahan and Jack O'Neill force her to make a tough relationship decision. Set immediately after Season 8's 'Covenant' and through and during Season 8's 'Sacrifices.'

This just has a wonderful, in-depth feel to it. I can't explain what exactly drew me in, but it definitely had an impact!

There is also a sequel... Chameleon, but I didn't feel it was as good. Choices can be read as a complete story on its own.
