Why This Must Be Read: The rogue NID wants a sample of Jack’s genetic material, so it’s all systems go to protect mini-Jack (since he’s in school and not in a highly classified military base). Things don’t always go to plan though, for instance mini-Jack is just as good at manipulating junior officers as General Jack, and General Jack seems to forget that he does occasionally leave the mountain. There's a lot of misdirection from friends as well as enemies, Teal'c in Jaffa revenge mode, car chases, Malcolm Barrett ogling Sam, near-M*A*S*H-like medical emergencies, plus a very forthright old biddy and Jack's strange gifts for baking.. and other.. stuff..

NB. There are a couple of original characters (Kris Martin and Sassy O’Connor) who previously appeared in Cjay’s “The Hard Candy Colonel” and “Resonance” (crossover with NCIS). I hadn’t read either before looking at “Candlestick Chronicles” and didn’t find it too confusing, but thought I’d better mention it :)

Why This Must Be Read: This series follows Jack Gallagher (a.k.a. mini-Jack) through high school, into the Air Force Academy and eventually the SGC. This brings in lots of excellent Jack-on-Jack action, as well as showing how SG1 deal with having two of them running around the place, and the plot of each fic is sufficiently different for this to not be solely a "growing-up" style series. My favourites are "Friends & Enemies" and "Betrayed", possibly because the plots are a lot more SGC-based and by this point Traycer had gotten more of a handle on how she wanted to portray mini-Jack.<br

Why This Must Be Read: Do you secretly really miss the family atmosphere of Stargate of the early seasons? Back when life was an adventure as our team was facing the great unknown together and fandom wasn't divided into ships? The team was friends first and foremost?

Well, maybe not just friends, but family.

This Holiday fic captures the team as we once knew them as they ponder the holidays without their families nearby. Then Cassandra and Janet come to the rescue and prove to Jack, Samantha, Daniel, Teal'c and yes... even General George that family bonds aren't always made of blood but of experiences shared.

Why This Must Be Read:Selmak has to admit that she's partial to George Hammond. Just don't tell Jake as he gets jealous.

In this takeoff of a Christmas Carol, one Christmas Eve, George Hammond has had enough death and despair to last a lifetime, and he wishes that he never was in command of the SGC. To his surprise, Urgo ... or someone looking like Urgo... takes him on a tour of what the SGC would be like without George Hammond in control.

And if you thought General Jack was bad news, trust Sel when she tells you that you ain't seen nothing yet until you witness the SGC without George. Will he return from his Christmas Carol a changed George? Why read it, and find out.
