This is a duology--"Lapsit Exilis" and "Sangreal"--that I really enjoyed, for several reasons. One, The Prophet has a *really* good grasp of Arthurian Legend, and it shows in the way she sets up the culture and mythology of Logres. And I love Arthurian Legend, so that's always good! Plus, Mab makes a delicious Goa'uld. *grin* The familiar characters are also very recognizable, and the original characters--Morwen, Elowen, Taliesin, Mellyan, Vivianne, etc--are real and vibrant and compelling too. The author has some uncommon ideas about the Goa'uld (both in this and in other fic), seeing them as much more redeemable as a whole than either the series or most fanfic writers seem to--although Kianna from "Fall Out" could theoretically be used to support The Prophet's point of view--but it's an interesting take. Not one I agree with, but that's never stopped me from enjoying a fic in the past. *g* The only thing I really had a problem with is that Daniel's relationship with Morwen both starts and ends a little suddenly--I would've expected him to mourn both Sha're *and* Morwen a little longer than he did (the story is set very close on the heels of "Forever in a Day"), but that's my perception of the character, and canon doesn't necessarily agree with me if you consider Ke'ra. *g* So anyway I'll stop talking now, before I get started *really* gushing about the Arthurian parallels and can't stop. ;-)
