Why This Must Be Read: This is a Vice-Versa story. The summary says: AU Atlantis needs a doctor trained in emergency room medicine, John Sheppard is that doctor. His first case is patching up Major Rodney McKay.
John is a Trauma Surgeon and ER/A&E doctor and Rodney is a Major in the USAF and also a Canadian physicist. On John's first day on Atlantis he rushes to an emergency gate activation to find a severely injured Major being brought through the Gate. John knows he has to save this mans life.



John remembers everything. Not even an hour off the Daedalus, and Dr. Beckett giving him the tour of the infirmary. Raving over and over about how glad he was to have another doctor on board, particularly someone trained in emergency medicine who had the Ancient gene to boot. The good Dr. Beckett admitting to John that sometimes it was all too much, especially for someone who had spent most of his life manipulating genes instead of patching up “hard headed buggers who dinna take care.” John laughing because he had plenty of experience with hard headed buggers back at the SGC. Then the gate activated and all hell broke loose.

He and Dr. Beckett were waiting with a full medical team when they came through. John’s first glimpse of the team. A beautiful women who scared the crap out of him, Major Lorne – another familiar face around SGC, and then the biggest man John had ever seen, carrying a dead man, just a mass of blood and protruding bone. It was only when the dead man started screaming that John realized the dead man was alive. Welcome to Atlantis.
