I am struggling to add tags to my rec. I am typing them in exactly as written in the sidebar, but it rejects them saying that I'm not allowed to create new ones. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

You can't add new tags unless you're a mod. If you let me know what ones you're trying to add I'll add them for you. Entries are actually tagged by a mod after you post your rec.

Oh okay, I thought it was my job to tag the entry. I wasn't trying to use anything that wasn't already in the tag list. I was trying:

character: john sheppard, character: ronon dex, character: rodney mckay, gen, crackfic, humor, sga
