Why This Must Be Read:
The beginnning of this story never fails to crack me up: observe evil shadowy figures as they compile their limited information about the project under Cheyenne Mountain and come to some Very Reasonable Conclusions.
Having said that, there is absolutely nothing humourous about the rest of the story. The team is caught flat-footed and is forced to improvise on the fly while time is running out for Daniel. Although in many ways this is a team fic and Daniel probably has the least amount of 'screentime', he's the lynchpin of the story and the title character. And, despite their lack of proper intell, the bad guys are professionals and organized-enough to make the story truly interesting and suspenseful as you wonder just how they're going to get out of this one alive.
