August reccers: volunteer post

This entry will be open to volunteers through Thursday, July 31st. The official list of monthly reccers will be posted on August 1st.

Comment with the username you'll be using to rec and the category you want, choosing a category from the list below or selecting a more rare category that has been used in the past. If you want to rec a category that is not on the list below or in the community memories, feel free to ask. Remember that you may volunteer for a category that isn't listed.

By signing up, you are committing yourself to reccing at least two (preferably four) stories in that category during the month of August. July reccers may only sign up for next month after posting their minimum two recs for this month. The FAQ and rec template, with detailed instructions, can be found here.

BTW, I've been holding onto an AU SG-1 rec for a while. Do you mind if I post it, even though AU is "your" category?

Oh course go ahead l tend to prefer SGA AUs and at present lve gone right back to the start of Wraithbait site looking for stories not rec'ced yet.

Sorry if l sort of seem to be hogging the AU category lm compiling a small list of other stories to rec in different categories

You are NOT "hogging" the AU category! You are following the comm's rules, reccing regularly month by month, and claiming your category of choice when the volunteer entry goes up. By all means, continue to rec AU! I ask only because I don't rec by category, but at random. Really, I could put the rec in "Five Things" or something if I was hard-pressed about it. :)

Do not feel obligated to change your reccing habits. Your regular recs are, I'm sure, a pleasure to all SGA fans out there, and very much appreciated.

Hoping I'll still get a couple more in for July now I have a new laptop. My old one died and took my entire fic library with it. But for August can I claim Rodney McKay (recs that is, though I'd love to claim the man himself). I'm thinking that means any fics I rec can be gen or slash or het providing Rodney's the main focus of the story?

Yep! Only relationship-specific categories require relationship-specific recs. If you're reccing a character, the type or absence of relationship in any rec is entirely up to you.

You've only recced one fic so far this month, though, so hurray for new laptops and hurry up and rec another one so you can officially claim Rodney for next month. :)

I ran out the clock the last time I volunteered to do McKay/Sheppard because I was going over the archives to make sure stories hadn't already been posted. But I have already done that, so if you're willing to take the risk I'll volunteer to do them next month.
