Why This Must Be Read: If you've ever wondered what happened between the time they took Carson's body back to Earth, and that final scene with Rodney and Carson's "image" at the end of the episode, this is what you should read.  The author captures both John and Rodney just perfectly, including all idiosyncrasies, etc.  And while this is a somber fic, it's something that you smile by the end.

They'd been about to get back in when Rodney looked at Sheppard over the top of the car. "Sheppard."

"What?"

"About Ford. You did."

"Did what, Rodney?"

"You went alone."

Sheppard went still, looking at a point somewhere over Rodney's shoulder. Eventually he said, "Yeah. I did." He got in the car and closed the door. Rodney paused, considering, then sat down and slammed the door and they were away down the road.
