Why This Must Be Read: It's Surreallis, you need more? Okay. Great believable (bittersweet!) S/J, wonderful character voices. It's hard to put Sam and Jack together believably during canon: this fic manages it.


"I would have broken the regs," Sam suddenly says when they're lying in their cots later.

He glances over at her, confused. "What?"

"If you had asked, I'd have broken them."

He stares at her, feeling suddenly very tense. "I never would have asked," he says.

She nods. "I know. But if you had..."

"Maybe that's why I never did," he says quietly.
