Why This Must Be Read: On what seems to be a straightforward mission offworld, Sam is caught in an abandonded Goa'uld trap and turned into stone. Her team, and Jack in particular, must go to great lengths to try to save her.

Full of angst and UST, this is a fun take on the "aliens made them do it" meme. The author does a great job of integrating myth and action, and tops it off with a nice dose of Jack whump. Oh, and it wouldn't do to forget to mention that there are some delightfully steamy parts too. :)


Jack let him go and looked over at the dais. Where Carter had been standing moments before stood a marble statue. He took a few steps closer and sucked in a breath. The statue looked exactly like Carter. Her uniform lay on the floor at the base of the statue. He looked up at her again and realized that with the exception of a narrow swath of fabric cut in intricate folds out of the marble that wrapped from one shoulder across her chest, then circled her narrow hips, she was completely naked. While it gave her some modicum of privacy, it still left little to the imagination. Jack stared, struck by how beautiful she looked, until he noticed her eyes. Terror was clearly etched in them. He reached out to touch the statue, but pulled his hand back. "Carter?" he whispered. No, it wasn't possible. This was not Carter. He turned and stalked back to the man still crumpled on the floor. "Tell me where she is and what the hell just happened," he yelled. Jack grabbed him roughly by the fabric of his tunic, pulling the man's face within inches of his own. "NOW!"
